Route 65: THE REBUILD, The Final Phase - Springfield

• Nighttime lane closings on Route 65 for survey work
• Regular weekly project updates start week of July 28                                            

Work Scheduled:  

• Contractor crews surveying Route 65 between Sunshine Street and Route 60 in southeast Springfield in preparation for rebuilding the original concrete pavement starting August 4 

Traffic Impacts:  

• Nighttime lane closings northbound and southbound on Route 65 between Sunshine Street and Route 60. At least one lane of Route 65 OPEN in both directions during the work. Work hours: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday-Friday. 

(Weather or construction delays could alter the work schedule.)

  • Survey work prior to reconstruction project
  • Nighttime lane closings between Sunshine Street and Route 60
• August 4-10
  • Rebuild southbound Route 65 original concrete pavement between Sunshine Street and Battlefield Road
  • All southbound lanes of Route 65 CLOSED between Sunshine Street and Battlefield Road
• August 10-20
  • Rebuild southbound Route 65 original concrete pavement between Battlefield Road and Route 60 (James River Freeway)
  • All southbound lanes of Route 65 CLOSED between Battlefield Road and Route 60
  • Southbound Route 65 OPEN between Sunshine Street and Battlefield Road, but reduced to one lane
• August 20-September 6
  • All lanes of Route 65 OPEN during Labor Day holiday weekend
• September 6-14
  • Rebuild northbound Route 65 original concrete pavement between Route 60 and Battlefield Road
  • All lanes of northbound Route 65 CLOSED between Route 60 and Battlefield Road
  • Eastbound Route 60-to-northbound Route 65 ramp CLOSED
  • Westbound Route 60-to-northbound Route 65 ramp CLOSED
• Saturday-Friday, September 14-20
  • Rebuild northbound Route 65 original concrete pavement between Battlefield Road and Sunshine Street
  • All northbound lanes of Route 65 CLOSED between Battlefield Road and Sunshine Street
  • Northbound Route 65 OPEN between Route 60 and Battlefield Road, but reduced to one lane
• September 20-November 1
  • Nighttime lane closings to install guardrail, build shoulders and stripe new pavement
• Prime Contractor: Emery Sapp and Sons, Inc. of Columbia
• Completion Date: November 2019 (However, contractor plans to complete project by late September.)
• Total Project Cost: $8.1 million
