U.S. Route 63 in Schuyler County Is Now Open at North Fork Middle Fabius River north of Lancaster

MACON – Route 63 is now open  to traffic at the North Fork Middle Fabius River Bridge, located 1.6 miles north of U.S. Route 136 near Lancaster. The bridge closed on May 13 for replacement.

“Even though we had wet weather, the contractor worked very hard to stay on schedule to get the bridge back open on time,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Amy Crawford.  “We appreciate everyone’s patience while U.S. 36 was closed.”

Over the next couple weeks, intermittent closures of a single lane will be necessary to complete the remaining items of work.  These lane closures will have minimal impact to traffic flow.

The new bridge is approximately 10 feet wider than the existing one. Phillips Hardy, Inc., of Columbia, was the contractor on this project, in a total award cost of $987,830.
