Interstate ramp at Route A now closed

Concrete replacement work narrows Route A to one lane at same location

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Interstate 229 southbound ramp to Route A is now closed. Crews from the Missouri Department of Transportation closed the ramp this morning. Local maintenance crews are working on the south end of the Route A overpass and have signals in place to direct traffic around their work zone. Because of its proximity to the work, traffic was backing up on the I-229 southbound off ramp, creating a hazard. For the safety of both the workers and the traveling public, the ramp will remain closed through the duration of the work, which is expected to wrap up on Friday, June 28. This includes an around-the-clock closure of the ramp and of one lane on the overpass. A 12-foot width restriction is also in place on the overpass.

Motorists will need to use an alternate route during the ramp closure and may expect delays on Route A between U.S. Route 169 and Cunningham Road.

As always, work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.
