Reminder: Crews Will CLOSE 10th St. over I-70 on June 27

Expect Lane and Ramp Closures This Weekend

JACKSON COUNTY – MoDOT Kansas City will close the 10th Street bridge over I-70 beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 27 for bridge rehabilitation work until approximately mid-September 2019. Additionally, there will be numerous lane and ramp closures in the area throughout the weekend on June 28. All work is weather permitting.

Thursday, June 27

  • Crews will CLOSE the 10th Street bridge over I-70 in both directions beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, until approximately mid-September.
  • Beginning on Thursday, June 27, the following areas will be CLOSED until mid-September:
  • Curbside parking between Charlotte St. and Harrison Street.
  • The 10th exit from the parking lot north of 10th Street.
  • The 10th Street ramps to eastbound and westbound I-70.
  • The ramp from eastbound I-70 to 11th

Friday, June 28 through Monday, July 1

  • Crews will close several ramps beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 28, through 5 a.m. on Monday, July 1. These ramps include:
  • The ramp from eastbound I-670 to westbound I-70 will be Traffic will need to detour via northbound I-35.
  • The ramp from westbound I-70 around the northern portion of the downtown loop will be CLOSED.  Traffic will need to detour via westbound I-670 to northbound I-35 and come back around the northern portion of the downtown loop.
  • The ramp from northbound U.S. 71 to westbound I-70 will be CLOSED. Traffic will need to detour via westbound I-670 to northbound I-35 and come around the northern portion of the downtown loop.

This closure is part of the bridge rehabilitation project of the 8th, 9th, 10th, and Chestnut bridges over I-70. More details about this project can be found here.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and find alternate routes if necessary. All work is weather permitting.

Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive. Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
