HANNIBAL - Today around 5 p.m., the Missouri Department of Transportation is closing the bridge over Milligan Creek in Monroe County near Middle Grove due to a sizable hole. "We put a plate over the hole last week, but it has grown even larger," explained MoDOT Area Engineer Brian Untiedt. Crews will evaluate the bridge next week for the feasibility of repairing the problem area, but it will remain closed until further notice.
"The bridge deck is in serious condition, and it is on Missouri's statewide transportation improvement program for a full bridge replacement in 2023," Untiedt said. The estimated cost of the project is near $1 million.
Information about road closures is available on MoDOT's online traveler map at www.modot.org.
