Missouri Route 124 Over Grindstone Creek Bridge to Temporarily Close

JEFFERSON CITY – Crews will temporarily close the Missouri Route 124 Bridge over Grindstone Creek in Boone County next week. This closure will allow crews to tie the new bridge to the existing Route 124 roadway.

The bridge, located between Harrisburg and U.S. Route 63, will be closed for three weeks beginning at 9 a.m. on July 8, 2019. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes during the closure. The replacement project is expected to be completed by fall 2019.

The current Grindstone Creek Bridge was built in 1932, and the condition of the bridge has reached a point of necessary replacement. The original bridge had a width of 20 feet. The new bridge will have a 26 foot width, allowing for two lanes of traffic and improving safety for travelers.
