Turn lane being added to U.S. Route 71

MARYVILLE, Mo. – A planned expansion to the facilities at Northwest Missouri State University’s Wright Farm is prompting the construction of a turn lane. The Missouri Department of Transportation issued a permit to the university to install a new entrance and an eastbound turn lane on U.S. Route 71 between Route CC and Icon Road.

Crews hired by the university plan to begin next week with construction that will impact travelers. U.S. Route 71 will be narrowed around the construction and a speed limit of 50 miles per hour will be in place. Flaggers will be used intermittently throughout the next month to move drivers through the work zone. Schedules are subject to change. Motorists should expect delays and may want to use an alternate route during the project.
