MoDOT TRAFFIC ALERT: New Weight Restriction Placed on Dallas County Route E

Over Little Niangua River East of Urbana

Dallas County – Signs indicating a weight limit will be removed for a bridge on Dallas County Route E over the Little Niangua River east of Urbana, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

The new load posting came about during the department’s regular bridge inspection process to analyze load limitations, which have been updated per Federal Highway Administration guidance.

The bridge is rated as poor and was built in 1932. No timeframe has been set to replace the bridge at this time.

Previously, a 20-ton weight limit and a 15-mph speed limit were in place for this bridge. Centerline striping for one-lane, two-way traffic will continue solely due to the narrow bridge width.

Approximately 540 vehicles travel across the structure each day.
