I-55 Center Junction Bridges Reduced for Repairs

Exit 99 in Cape Girardeau County

SIKESTON-Work will soon be underway to repair the Interstate 55 bridges over Highway 61 between Cape Girardeau and Jackson, Missouri (Center Junction).

Missouri Department of Transportation crews will work on the southbound I-55 bridge first. Repairs to the southbound bridge will be underway from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, July 29 through Thursday, Aug. 1, weather permitting.

MoDOT crews will then move to the northbound I-55 bridge, with repairs taking place from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5 through Thursday, Aug. 8, weather permitting.

As work is underway in both locations, I-55 will be reduced with a 14-foot width restriction. Crews will work in alternating lanes. Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling in this area and to follow work zone signage.
