HANNIBAL – Weather permitting, as early as May 18, resurfacing work is scheduled on approximately 41 miles of various routes in Schuyler and Scotland counties. Work will begin on 22.5 miles of Route D, from Route U at Lancaster in Schuyler Co. to MO 15 near Memphis in Scotland County.
Once complete, resurfacing operations will move to the following locations in Schuyler County:
- Route V, from Route D to U.S. Route 136 in Downing (7.6 miles)
- Route U, from U.S. Route 136 in Lancaster to U.S. Route 63 (6.4 miles)
- Route J, from U.S. Route 63 near Greentop to Quail Avenue (6.25 miles)
Traffic will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction at the location where crews are actively working. Flaggers and a pilot car will be utilized for traffic control to guide traffic through the work zone. All work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change.
The $3.9M contract was awarded last year to W. L. Miller Company of Hamilton, Illinois. All work is anticipated to be completed by late Summer.
The resurfacing projects are included as part of the Governor's Rural Routes Program. The program, created with Gov. Mike Kehoe's signing of the fiscal year 2026 state budget, allocated $20 million of General Revenue funds to the Missouri Department of Transportation to improve low-volume rural roads across the state.
