Clinton County I-35 traffic to shift to two-way traffic on northbound lanes beginning April 1

Interstate 35 from Shoal Creek to Route 116, and Route 69 in Clinton County

St. Joseph, Mo. – Michels Road & Stone, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, is scheduled to begin resurfacing the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 on Wednesday, April 1.

During construction, interstate traffic will be shifted to two-way traffic on the northbound lanes while crews remove the existing pavement and resurface the southbound lanes.

Traffic Impacts: The interstate will be narrowed to one lane in both directions, with a 12-foot width restriction in place. Motorists should expect delays.

All work for this project must be completed on or before September 1, 2026.

As a part of this project, U.S. Route 69 was widened and resurfaced from near Shoal Creek to Missouri Route 116 and southbound lanes of I-35 were also resurfaced from Route 69 (Exit 48) to Route 116 (Exit 40) in 2025.
