JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – Missouri Route 179, just north of the junction with Cole County Route Z, is expected to close for a few hours next week. Motorists will need to use an alternate route.
On March 17, construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation plan to close Route 179 at Rock Creek from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to remove trees. This work is associated with a project to replace the bridge's deck later this year.
The start date for the bridge deck replacement project has yet to be determined, but all work is expected to be completed by Dec. 1, 2026. More details are available about the project here: https://www.modot.org/projects/route-179-bridge-deck-replacement-over-rock-creek-cole-county.
All work is weather-dependent and subject to change.
