MoDOT to switch lanes on westbound Route 370 Discovery Bridge starting week of March 2

ST. LOUIS COUNTYThe Missouri Department of Transportation will begin a bridge rehabilitation project on the Route 370 bridge over the Missouri River (the Discovery Bridge) starting the week of March 2. All work is weather permitting.

For the first portion of the project, two westbound lanes will be shifted to the eastbound lanes on the bridge. Crews will begin the process of restriping the roadway and putting in barrier wall Monday, March 2 through Friday, March 6.

During the week, drivers can expect:

  • Monday, March 2, crews will close one eastbound lane of Route 370 on the bridge from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and one westbound Route 370 lane on the bridge from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 3 through Friday, March 6, crews will work nightly from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. to complete the median barrier and move the westbound lanes to the eastbound lanes of the bridge.
  • Also Tuesday, March 3 from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. crews will close the ramp from Route 94 to westbound Route 370.
  • Friday, March 6 from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., crews will close both ramps at Route 141 to westbound Route 370 and the exit ramp from westbound Route 370 to Route 141.

During the project, MoDOT will maintain two through lanes in each direction of Route 370. Initially two westbound lanes will shift to the eastbound bridge. A temporary barrier wall will separate both directions of traffic.

Drivers can expect a work zone speed limit of 50 mph, narrowed and shifted lanes through the limits of the work zone.  The work zone is anticipated to lead to some backups during peak commuting times, so motorists are encouraged to avoid those times if possible.

Drivers can use I-70, Route 364 or I-64 as alternate crossings between St. Louis and St. Charles counties.
