JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The entrance to Westview Drive in Versailles is open with a temporary driving surface as crews continue replacing a culvert.
To help address flooding issues, a new, larger culvert was installed at the entrance to Westview Drive from Route 5, and the roadway reopened to traffic on Friday, Jan. 6 – ahead of schedule. However, work is not complete. Construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation will continue to build out the ends of the culvert, and the permanent driving surface will be installed at a later, yet-to-be-determined date. This will require Westview Drive to be closed again. Prior notice will be given once dates for the second closure are available.
All work is weather-permitting and subject to change.
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $5,041,329.32 contract to S & A Equipment & Builders, LLC for the project that includes installing a roundabout at the junction of Route 5 and Route 52, expanding Route 52 to three lanes (providing one lane of travel in each direction with a shared center turn lane), and replacing existing culverts with larger structures to address flooding concerns. The project is expected to be completed in early 2026.
