Route AA in Maries County now open following bridge rehabilitation projects

Route 42 over Maries River to close Monday, Jan. 26, weather permitting

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – Maries County Route AA, south of Argyle, closed in early September for bridge rehabilitation projects over the Little Maries River and the Maries River. The Little Maries River Bridge closed first and upon its completion, the Maries River Bridge closed. Today, construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation were able to open the roadway to all traffic yesterday, Jan. 22, 2026.

As part of this bundle of bridge rehabilitations, two bridges on Missouri Route 42 will also close. The first bridge, over the Maries River, is scheduled to close Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, however the impending storm may delay the closure. A signed detour will direct motorists around the closure via Missouri Route 133, Route N, and Route V.

When it is completed in early May, the bridge over Fly Creek will close.

All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.

MoDOT contracted with Louis-Company, LLC to complete these four bridge rehabilitations, which are all expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
