TRAFFIC ALERT: New Weight Restriction Placed on Route D/North Deepwater Creek Bridge in Bates Co.

Bates County – Signs indicating a weight limit of 20 tons for all vehicles will be installed over the next few weeks for a bridge on Bates County Route D over North Deepwater Creek northeast of Butler, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

The new load posting came about during the department’s regular bridge inspection process to analyze load limitations, which have been updated per Federal Highway Administration guidance.

The bridge is rated as poor and was built in 1954. The new weight restriction will be in place until repairs can be performed during a low water period.

Previously no weight limit was in place for this bridge.

Approximately 30 vehicles travel across the structure each day.
