US Route 61 in Cape Girardeau County Roundabout Construction to Begin

SIKESTON—The city of Jackson's construction crew will soon begin work to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Route 61 and Deerwood Drive in Cape Girardeau County.

Weather permitting, work will begin Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 7 a.m. with completion anticipated Friday, May 29.

During the first phase, Route 61 and Deerwood Drive will be reduced one lane with 12-foot width restrictions as contractor crews construct the roundabout. With temporary four-way signals in use and the potential for significant congestion, motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes throughout the duration of the project.

The work zone will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
