JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The following is a list of general highway maintenance and construction work planned in the mid–Missouri area Dec. 1 – 7, 2025. Weather conditions may postpone scheduled work. Many projects will include lane closures which could cause delays.
All Counties
In addition to the work listed below, other moving operations such as pothole patching, mowing, and pavement repairs continue in various locations. Motorists should travel with care and be alert for slow-moving equipment.
All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
Boone County
Missouri Route 124 – Culvert replacement planned Dec. 1 – 2 at Lakeside Drive. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route TT – Pedestrian facility upgrades continue from Yorkshire Drive to Fairview Road in Columbia. Work will require temporary closures of pedestrian facilities and intermittent nighttime single-lane closures with flaggers to direct motorists through the work zone. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2025.
Route K and Old Plank Road intersection – Roundabout construction continues. The intersection is CLOSED. Traffic on West Route K heading east toward Columbia is detoured north on South Sinclair Road to West Southampton Drive. Traffic on West Route K heading west from Columbia should use East Southampton Drive and South Sinclair Road to reach West Route K. This is a cost-share project between the City of Columbia and MoDOT, and is scheduled for completion in December 2025.
U.S. Route 63 – Interchange improvements continue at Route AC (Grindstone Parkway). Lenoir Street is CLOSED from Grindstone Parkway to the main entrance to Lenoir Woods. This also affects the northernmost entrance to Lenoir Woods. Motorists must use an alternate route around the closure, which is scheduled for completion in early December 2025.
U.S. Route 63 – Bridge rehabilitation continues between Broadway (south of Interstate 70) and Vandiver Drive (north of I-70) in Columbia. The roadway will remain open but in a head-to-head configuration with narrowed lanes and reduced speeds. This traffic pattern is expected to be in place through early December 2025. **
North Outer Road 70 – CLOSED for a culvert extension project at Little Cedar Creek, east of Columbia, near mile marker 134.8 on I-70. Motorists need to use an alternate route during the closure, which is expected to continue through February 2026. **
I-70 – New pavement construction from west of St. Charles Road (near mile marker 130) to the Callaway County line (near mile marker 136) as part of the Improve I-70 Program. Motorists can expect intermittent and long-term lane closures for the duration of the project, which has an overall completion date in 2027. **
Callaway County
Routes E and J – Culvert replacements planned Dec. 1 – 5. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
South Outer Road 70 (Jade Road) and North Outer Road 70 (Old U.S. Route 40) – CLOSED for a culvert replacement project at Sallees Creek, west of Kingdom City (near I-70 mile marker 146.4). Motorists need to use an alternate route during the closures, which are expected to continue through February 2026. **
I-70 – New pavement construction continues from the Route M (near mile marker 144) to Kingdom City (near mile marker 148) as part of the Improve I-70 Program. Motorists can expect intermittent and long-term lane closures for the duration of the project, which has an overall completion date in 2027. **
Camden County
U.S. Route 54 – Pavement widening continues from Business Route 5 to Bumper Hill Road. One lane in each direction will remain open. However, traffic is shifted, eliminating the center turn lane. This phase of the project is scheduled for completion in spring 2026.
Cole County
U.S. Route 50 (Whitton Expressway) – Pedestrian facility upgrades continue at the intersections with Broadway Street, Jefferson Street, Madison Street, and Monroe Street. The right turn lanes from Broadway Street, Jefferson Street and Monroe Street onto westbound U.S. Route 50 and the westbound U.S. Route 50 right turn lanes to Monroe Street and Broadway Street may be closed between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, when crews are working at each location. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2025.
Crawford County
Missouri Route 8, Routes BB, DD, and M – Culvert replacements planned Dec. 1 – 5. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Routes 8 and CC – Pavement repairs planned Dec. 1 – 5. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 49 and Route WW– Roadside work planned Dec. 1 – 5. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
North Outer Road 44 – Pavement repairs planned Dec. 1 – 5 from Route U to Route F. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Howard County
Missouri Route 240 – Shoulder work planned Dec. 1 – 5 from Route W to County Road 419. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route FF – Roadside work planned Dec. 1 – 5. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Laclede County
Route AA – CLOSED in various locations for culvert replacements Dec. 1 – 2, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily.
Route W – Roadside work planned Dec. 1 – 2. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Maries County
Route T – Roadside work planned Dec. 1 – 5 from Route JJ to County Road 214. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route AA – Bridge deck replacement continues over the Maries River. The bridge is CLOSED with a signed detour in place to direct motorist around the closure. The project is scheduled for completion in January 2026.
Moniteau County
Routes AA and D – Shoulder work planned Dec. 1 – 5. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route 87 and Route C intersection – Roundabout construction continues. The intersection will remain open but is narrowed to one lane with temporary signals directing traffic through the work zone. Motorists should expect delays. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2025.
Morgan County
Route D – Roadside work planned Dec. 1 – 5 from Route PP to Route BB. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route Y – Culvert replacement planned Dec. 1 – 5. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 52 – Roundabout construction continues in Versailles at the intersection of Route 52 and Missouri Route 5. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2025.
Phelps County
I-44 – Diamond grinding scheduled Dec. 1 – 5 at the westbound exit ramp to North Bishop Avenue (Exit 186). The ramp will remain open but narrowed to one lane.
U.S. Route 63 – Pavement repairs planned Dec. 1 – 5 from I-44 to Route A in Maries County. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route BB – Culvert replacement planned Dec. 1 – 5 from Forum Drive to Country Club Road. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route D – Bridge rehabilitation continues over I–44, approximately 7 miles southwest of Doolittle. The bridge is CLOSED, with a signed detour in place. During construction, unexpected deterioration was uncovered which will require additional work. At this time, the expected completion date for the rehabilitation is not known.
Missouri Route 72 – Pedestrian facility upgrades continue in Rolla. Work will require temporary closures of pedestrian facilities and intermittent single-lane closures with flaggers to direct motorists through the work zone. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2025.
Pulaski County
Missouri Route 7 – Pedestrian facility upgrades continue in Richland at Route A. Work will require temporary closures of pedestrian facilities and intermittent single-lane closures with flaggers to direct motorists through the work zone. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2025.
Missouri Route 28 – Pedestrian facility upgrades continue from East A Street to Chestnut Street in Dixon. Work will require temporary closures of pedestrian facilities and intermittent single-lane closures with flaggers to direct motorists through the work zone. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2025.
Washington County
Route M – Culvert replacement planned Dec. 1 – 5. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route 8 – Bridge rehabilitation over the Union Pacific Railroad. Work is currently suspended. The roadway will remain open throughout the project but is narrowed to one lane. Motorists should expect delays. For more information about the work stoppage: www.modot.org/node/80126
Missouri Route 47 – Bridge replacement continues over Mill Creek. The bridge is CLOSED with a signed detour in place to direct motorists around the closure.
