Public input sought on Boone County intersection improvement

MoDOT to host public meeting in Sturgeon. Comment period to run through Dec. 23.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The intersection of U.S. Route 63 and Route CC in Boone County has experienced 11 crashes over the past five years, which resulted in one fatality and one serious injury. To improve safety at the intersection, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is planning to remove the crossover between the north and southbound lanes of U.S. Route 63, and add acceleration and deceleration lanes to both Route CC and Roy Barnes Road. The roadway is expected to remain open during construction, which is expected in 2026, but motorists will encounter lane closures throughout the process.

As part of the planning and design process for this safety project, MoDOT needs your input. The public is invited to attend an open-house style meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at the Sturgeon City Hall, 303 E. Fire Station Drive, in Sturgeon. Visitors may stop by at any time between 4:30 and 6 p.m. to speak with project team members, view exhibits outlining the planned work and proposed detour, ask questions and leave comments. There will be no formal presentation so interested parties can come and go as they please during the advertised hours. Meeting materials will also be available online at the project’s webpage: www.modot.org/projects/us-route-63-and-route-cc-intersection-improvements-boone-county.

In addition to the public meeting, there will be a three-week open comment period running Nov. 25 – Dec. 23. Input may be submitted online through a form on the project webpage, emailed to CDCR@modot.mo.gov, or mailed to 1511 Missouri Boulevard, Jefferson City, MO, 65102. All comments must be received or postmarked by Dec. 23, 2025.
