JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Construction on the Washington County bridge deck rehabilitation project on Missouri Route 8 over the Union Pacific Railroad has been temporarily suspended following a work site incident. A contract worker sustained non life-threatening injuries Monday afternoon, Nov. 10. The roadway was closed while first responders treated the worker and transported them for further medical evaluation and care. The roadway was reopened later that same day to the work zone that has been in place since the project began earlier this year: a single lane of traffic controlled by temporary signals.
While the Missouri Department of Transportation, S & A Equipment & Builders, and Union Pacific Railroad investigate, all work has been stopped at the site. The duration of the work stoppage is not known at this time, pending further investigation.
This work stoppage will affect the timing of the planned traffic shift to work on the second half of the bridge. More information will be released as it becomes available regarding work resuming and the traffic shift.
