Stage 4 Interchange Improvements Begin Ahead of Schedule at Routes A/B over I-70 in Warren County

Scheduled 35-Day Closure at Route A and the Northwest Service Road

HANNIBAL – The schedule for Stage 4 construction has been accelerated and will begin in early November, at the Routes A/B and Interstate 70 interchange (mile marker 188.6), near Pendleton in Warren County.

Weather permitting, as early as November 3, contractor crews will begin tie-in work focused on the north side of the interchange at Route A and the Northwest Service Road.  Changeable message boards will be utilized to notify motorists of updated traffic impacts and changes.

Phase 4 traffic impacts will include:

  • A 35-day CLOSURE at the following locations to facilitate tie-in work:
    • Route A will close from just north of the Northwest Service Road to the I-70 westbound ramps
    • The Northwest Service road will also be closed just east and west of the Route A intersection
  • Route A traffic will utilize a signed detour diverting motorists to MO 47 to the Northwest Service Road and to Route W to reach their destinations.
  • Traffic on the Northwest Service Road will travel west to the Routes E and Y interchange at Jonesburg or east to the Route MM interchange, west of Warrenton.
  • Route B and West Veterans Memorial Parkway will remain closed through mid-November while work is completed on the I-70 on and off ramps from Phase 3B. A signed detour will continue to divert EB and WB I-70 ramp traffic to the Routes E/Y interchange, at Jonesburg and Route MM, west of Warrenton.

As progress continues on the project, the interchange will be an active work zone and require various segments to close for roadway construction. “There are currently a significant number of active work zones throughout the I-70 corridor. We would like to remind drivers to please slow down, obey all signs and eliminate distractions while driving. The safety of the traveling public and our workers is our top priority,” stated Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Jeff Niemeyer.

Signs and message boards will be in place to alert motorists, as schedule changes occur. MoDOT will alert the public about the project through signs, news releases and social media.
