Motorists to begin using new roundabout in Versailles next week

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.A new traffic pattern is coming to Versailles next week. Traffic at the junction of Missouri Route 52 and Missouri Route 5 is set to shift to the new roundabout Monday morning, Oct. 20.

Construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation began replacing the outdated signal at Route 52 and Route 5 in May. While there is still construction ongoing at the site, the new roundabout is ready for traffic, and all traffic through the intersection will be using the roundabout by 5 a.m. Oct. 20. As everyone gets accustomed to the new configuration, motorists should use extra caution and follow all posted signs.

All work is weather-permitting and subject to change.

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $5,041,329.32 contract to S & A Equipment & Builders, LLC for the project which will install a roundabout at the junction of Route 5 and Route 52, expand Route 52 to three lanes (providing one lane of travel in each direction with a shared center turn lane), and replace existing culverts with larger structures to address flooding concerns. The project is expected to be complete in fall 2025.
