JEFFERSON COUNTY- Crews will close Central Avenue under I-55 from 7 p.m. Friday, October 17 to 5 a.m. Monday, October 20 for bridge demolition. Traffic on northbound I-55 has been shifted onto a new bridge over Central Avenue allowing for demolition of the old northbound structure. All lanes of I-55 will remain open.
Detours will be signed. All work is weather permitting.
The demolition of the northbound bridge over Central Avenue follows the demolition of two northbound I-55 structures (over US 67 and North 3rd Street) completed earlier this month. All three bridges will be replaced with new structures.
