HANNIBAL – Beginning the evening of September 23, contractor crews are scheduled to install bridge girders on the new Routes A/B bridge over Interstate 70 in Warren County, at mile marker 188.6 near Pendleton. To facilitate this work, eastbound and westbound I-70 traffic will utilize the I-70 on/off ramps at the Routes A/B interchange as well as periods of rolling closures on I-70.
Weather permitting, girder installation work will tentatively occur between 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23 and 4:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26.
- Motorists can expect short delays when traveling on I-70 due to rolling closures on the following days:
- Eastbound I-70: from 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23 to 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24
- Westbound I-70: from 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25 and 4:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26
- I-70 traffic will be routed over the ramps according to the following schedule:
- Eastbound I-70: from 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24 to 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 25
- Westbound I-70: from 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24 to 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 25
During this time, traffic impacts will include:
- Reducing I-70 traffic to one lane before the interchange ramps. Motorists will divert up and over the ramps and then back to I-70
- Access to the existing bridge over I-70 will be closed between the eastbound and westbound ramps
- Access to Routes A and B from I-70 will close between:
- Route A - NW Service Road and the westbound I-70 ramps
- Route B - West Veterans Memorial Parkway and the eastbound I-70 ramps
- Motorists on I-70 should expect delays while traffic is diverted
As progress continues on the project, the interchange will be an active work zone and require various segments to close for roadway construction. “There are currently a significant number of active work zones throughout the I-70 corridor. We would like to remind drivers to please slow down, obey all signs and eliminate distractions while driving. The safety of the traveling public and our workers is our top priority,” stated Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Jeff Niemeyer.
Signs and message boards will be in place to alert motorists, as schedule changes occur. MoDOT will alert the public about the project through signs, news releases and social media.
