ST. CHARLES COUNTY – Crews with the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project will be closing the left lane of westbound Interstate 70 between the St. Charles County line and Wentzville Parkway overnight starting Friday, September 12. The lane will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, September 12, and Saturday, September 13 to strengthen the median shoulder before work begins to widen and install a third lane in each direction on I-70. All work is weather permitting.
Immediately following the shoulder strengthening, crews will shift the westbound lanes between the Foristell Weigh Station (Mile Marker 205.4) and Wentzville Parkway (Mile Marker 208) to begin construction of the new concrete pavement. When work is occurring in this area motorists will experience nightly right lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. During non-working hours westbound traffic will be shifted into narrower lanes with barrier wall along the right shoulder.
This work is part of the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project covering the eastern portion of I-70. It was awarded in November 2024. Construction is set to continue through 2028.
Missouri’s FY2024 budget, approved through the state legislative process and signed into law by the governor, provides $2.8 billion in General Revenue to build a third lane of I-70 across the state. The program will plan, design, construct, reconstruct, rehabilitate, and add a third lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
