JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – Maries County Route AA, south of Argyle, is set to close next week to replace the deck (driving surface) of the Little Maries River Bridge. Construction crews, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, will close the bridge to all traffic beginning the morning of Sept. 8, and it will remain closed through mid-November.
Built in 1966, the supporting structures of the bridge are in good condition. The driving surface, however, has deteriorated, is in poor condition, and needs to be replaced. During the project, the nearly 400 motorists who use the route each day will be directed around the closure on a signed detour via Osage County Route T, Osage County Route P, and U.S. Route 63.
All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
MoDOT contracted with Louis-Company, LLC to complete this work and three additional bridge rehabilitations. Route AA over the Maries River, Missouri Route 42 over Fly Creek, and Route 42 over the Maries River will all have their decks replaced. Each of these bridge projects will require full road closures, with all four expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
