JACKSON COUNTY- The Missouri Department of Transportation will be conducting a bridge demolition of the Holmes Street bridge over westbound and eastbound I-670 resulting in a full closure of EB/WB I-670 and various ramp closures between the U.S. Highway 71/I-670 interchange and the I-35/I-670 interchange. Work will begin on Friday, Aug. 22 at 10:00 p.m. until Monday, Aug. 25 at 5:00 a.m. Holmes St. will be closed from 14th St to Truman Rd. All work is weather permitting. REVISED - ADDED: During demolition, Friday, Aug. 22 at 10:00 p.m. until Monday, Aug. 25 at 5:00 a.m., access to EB I-670 will be closed starting just east of the 18th St. interchange on the Kansas side. EB I-670 traffic will be advised/detoured to the EB I-70 portion of the downtown loop. The following ramps will be closed:
After demolition is completed, Holmes St. will remain closed from 14th St. to Truman Rd. there will also be short-term various lane closures on I-670 at Holmes St. throughout construction. Construction is scheduled to be completed by June 2026. This work is a part of a larger project to replace the Holmes Street Bridge over I-670.
