Bridge replacement project to close Crawford County Route J

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A project to replace the Boone Creek Bridge on Crawford County Route J near Bourbon is scheduled to get underway the week of Aug. 25. The 75-year-old narrow bridge has posted weight limits and has deteriorated to the point it needs replacement. A new box culvert will be installed to replace the aging Boone Creek Bridge.

Crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation plan to close Route J to all traffic for the duration of the project, beginning Aug. 25, 2025. A signed detour will be in place directing motorists around the closure via Route H, Missouri Route 185, Alice Street in Sullivan, and the North Service Road.

The bridge replacement is expected to be completed and the road reopened by the end of October. All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $615,057.74 contract for this project to Don Schnieders Excavating Company, Inc.
