JACKSON AND CASS COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will add turn lanes on Missouri Route 291 resulting in the full CLOSURE of NB and SB MO 291 starting at just south of SW 163rd St. and Kidwell Rd. to just north of 167th St. and Wild Horse Parkway. The CLOSURE will begin on approx. Monday, August 18 at 6 a.m. until approx. Wednesday, September 24 at 6 p.m. The signed detour of MO 58 EB, MO 7, and MO 150 will be in place during the closure. All work is weather permitting.
The addition of turn lanes on MO 291 at 163rd St. and Kidwell Rd. is part of a larger roadway improvement project, which also includes the resurfacing of NB and SB MO 291 from just south of MO 150 to the MO 58 north junction. Resurfacing work will be scheduled at a later date, take place in the evening/overnight hours, and will not require a full closure. An additional press release will be sent once resurfacing work is scheduled.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short-term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
