Barry County – Signs indicating a weight limit of 25 tons for single unit vehicles have been installed for a bridge on Missouri Route 86 over Roaring River in Barry County southeast of Cassville, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
There is no change for combination vehicles (tractor trailers).
The new load posting came about during the department’s regular bridge inspection process to analyze load limitations, which have been updated per Federal Highway Administration guidance.
The bridge is rated as fair and was built in 1957. The restriction is due to the size and spacing of the bridge girders and not due to deterioration of the bridge. The new weight limit will be in place until the bridge is replaced.
Previously, there was no posted load limit on this bridge.
Approximately 1,800 vehicles travel across the structure each day.
