MoDOT to close southbound Route 61 exit ramp to westbound I-70 for 45 days starting August 11

ST. CHARLES COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will close the southbound Route 61 exit ramp to westbound Interstate 70 for 45 days starting at 6 a.m., Monday, August 11. All work is weather permitting.

The detour for southbound Route 61 traffic is to continue to eastbound Interstate 70, then exit at the Route A interchange, and turn around and enter westbound I-70. During the 45-day closure, the Luetkenhaus ramp to westbound I-70 will be closed; however, the Luetkenhaus ramp to eastbound I-64 will remain open.

The ramp closure is part of the reconstruction of the I-70/I-64/Route 61 interchange as part of the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project covering the eastern portion of I-70. It was awarded in November 2024. Construction is set to continue through 2028.

Missouri’s FY2024 budget, approved through the state legislative process and signed into law by the governor, provides $2.8 billion in General Revenue to build a third lane of I-70 across the state. The program will plan, design, construct, reconstruct, rehabilitate, and add a third lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
