JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – The Missouri Department of Transportation is seeking community feedback on plans to rehabilitate two bridges, one in eastern Morgan County and one in southern Moniteau County. Public input is essential to help guide the design and construction process, by commenting, questioning and providing insight during the in-person meeting and the two-week comment period.
The Morgan County Route W bridge over Indian Creek southwest of Barnett was built in 1965 and the Moniteau County Route CC bridge over South Moreau Creek north of Eldon was built in 1966. The supporting structures of both bridges are in good condition, but the driving surfaces have deteriorated and need to be replaced. Construction is expected in 2026. The current plan would close Route W and Route CC, with a signed detour.
The open-house style meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 7, at the at the Moreau Fire Protection District Station 4 located at 21705 Highway 52 in Barnett. Attendees may come and go as they please at any time from 4:30 to 6 p.m., as there will be no formal presentation. The project team will be on-hand to answer questions, provide information, and receive input about the project. The meeting exhibits will also be made available online beginning July 31.
In addition to the public meeting, there will be a two-week comment period running July 31 – Aug. 14. Input can be submitted online through a form on the project webpage, emailed to CDCR@modot.mo.gov, or mailed to Route 179 Bridge Deck Replacement over Rock Creek in Cole County, c/o MoDOT, 1511 Missouri Boulevard, Jefferson City, MO, 65102. All comments must be received or postmarked by Aug. 14.
