Input sought on Route 179 bridge deck replacement project over Rock Creek

Two-week comment period runs July 22-Aug. 5. In-person public meeting July 29.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo The Missouri Department of Transportation is seeking community feedback on plans to rehabilitate the Missouri Route 179 bridge over Rock Creek in Cole County. Built in 1936, the supporting structures of the Rock Creek Bridge are in good condition, but the driving surface has deteriorated and needs to be replaced. The current plan would close Route 179 at the bridge, with a signed detour, with construction expected in 2026 

Public input is essential to help guide the design and construction process, by commenting, questioning and providing insight during the in-person meeting and the two-week comment period.  

The open-house style meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 29, at the at the Centertown City Hall located at 1227 Broadway, Centertown. Attendees may come and go as they please at any time from 4:30 to 6 p.m., as there will be no formal presentation. The project team will be on- hand to answer questions, provide information, and receive input about the projectThe meeting exhibits will also be made available online beginning July 22.    

In addition to the public meeting, there will be a two-week comment period running July 22Aug. 5. Input can be submitted online through a form on the project webpage, emailed to CDCR@modot.mo.gov, or mailed to Route 179 Bridge Deck Replacement over Rock Creek in Cole County, c/o MoDOT, 1511 Missouri Boulevard, Jefferson City, MO, 65102. All comments must be received or postmarked by Aug. 5
