Crane, Stone County – A project to upgrade sidewalks to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements along Missouri Route 265 and Stone County Route D in Crane is to begin the week of July 21, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
At times, driveways and business entrances may be gravel as crews remove sections of sidewalks that run across to install new pavement. Contractor crews, working with the businesses, are ensuring access to all businesses remains open during the work.
Drivers are urged to use caution when traveling over gravel at driveways and business entrances to reach their destinations.
Here’s a look at the project:
- Contractor crews upgrading sidewalks to conform to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, including replacing sidewalks, paved approaches, installing crosswalks, curbs, curb & gutter, curb ramps, pavement marking, guardrail, and updating signs
- Work will be done in the following locations in Crane:
- Missouri Route 265 between North Hemphill Avenue and Stone County Route D
- Stone County Route D between Missouri Route 265 and Pirate Lane
- Driveway concrete replaced in half sections, and temporary gravel driveways will be provided to allow access to the property
- Drivers may encounter flaggers and lane drops where crews are working
- Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
Hunter Chase & Associates, Inc., Springfield, is doing the work for a low bid amount of $ 421,722.
The project is to be completed by November 1, 2025.
