MoDOT seeks public input on long-term improvements to I-44/U.S. Route 50 Interchange

FRANKLIN COUNTY-The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is studying potential long-term improvements at the I-44/U.S. 50 interchange to improve safety, reduce congestion, and increase the reliability of this key connection in Missouri’s highway system.

Many portions of I-44, especially at the U.S. 50 interchange, have outdated design standards and construction from over 50 years ago. This interchange currently has the highest number of crashes in the Forward 44 study area. With high traffic volumes and the current roadway capacity exceeding the expected demand, this area experiences frequent delays and detours.

To help guide this effort, MoDOT is inviting public input through a short online survey. Community feedback will play a vital role in developing project goals and priorities.

“Whether you drive this route daily or occasionally, MoDOT wants to hear from you,” said Stacey Smith, Project Director, “Your voice will help shape the future of this vital route.”

The survey is available online until Thursday, July 10, 2025, by clicking this link. MoDOT encourages residents, commuters, and stakeholders to participate and share their experiences and suggestions.
