ST. CHARLES COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will narrow westbound and eastbound Interstate 64 lanes between Route K and Route DD/Winghaven Boulevard starting Monday, June 23. All work is weather permitting.
The westbound and eastbound lanes will be reduced to one 11-foot lane and one 10-foot lane, with an 8-foot shoulder. Crews will be working behind barrier wall in the median of the interstate. The speed limit in this work zone will be reduced to 55 miles per hour.
This work is the second stage of widening I-64 between the I-70/I-64 interchange and Route K as part of the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project covering the eastern portion of I-70. It was awarded in November 2024. Construction is tentatively set to take place 2025-2028.
Missouri’s FY2024 budget from the General Assembly signed into law by Governor Parson provides $2.8 billion in General Revenue for the costs to build a third lane of I-70 across the state. The program will plan, design, construct, reconstruct, rehabilitate, and add a third lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
