Accessibility improvements moving to Columbia this week

Work to begin on Route WW

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Pedestrian facility upgrades are scheduled to start in Columbia this week. Construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation anticipate beginning work on Boone County Route WW, between Bricktown Road to S. Rolling Hills Road, on Thursday, June 19, weather-permitting.

In a yet-to-be determined order, crews will also make improvements to several other locations around Columbia:

  • Route TT from Park de Ville Drive to Missouri Route 740.
  • Missouri Route 163 from E. Broadway to Rogers Street.
  • Route E at Primrose Drive.
  • Missouri Route 763 at Route VV.
  • Route B at Vandiver.

Planned improvements include sidewalks, curb ramps, and pavement approaches to bring them into compliance with the current standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Work will require temporary closures of pedestrian facilities and intermittent single-lane closures with flaggers, as necessary. By contract, the project is scheduled for completion by Dec. 1, 2025.

All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
