Expect Reduced Lanes, Delays on Route 7/Truman Lake Bridge Beginning Week of May 26

Benton County – Drivers will encounter reduced lanes and traffic delays when a project to rehabilitate the Missouri Route 7 bridge over Truman Lake west of Warsaw begins the week of May 26, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Contractor crews will replace the bridge’s expansion joints and restripe the bridge deck/driving surface.

Traffic impacts:

  • Crews will close one lane at a time on Route 7 across the bridge for the duration of the project
  • Traffic will be controlled by temporary stop signals at both ends of the bridge
  • Drivers will encounter a red stop light as they approach the signal
  • Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone
  • Drivers are urged to find alternate routes during the project
  • Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

The bridge was built in 1970 with approximately 3,000 vehicles crossing it each day.

Weather and/or construction delays could alter the work schedule.

Project information:

  • Prime contractor – Emery Sapp & Sons, Columbia
  • Total project cost: $573,000
  • Contract completion date: December 1, 2025 (contractor expects to finish the work well before the contract completion date)
