WARREN COUNTY – Eastbound Interstate 70 will be restricted to ONE LANE near Stracks Church Road, at mile marker 197, beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, through 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 18. Issues with the pavement in this area have resulted in emergency repairs in multiple locations over the past week. To resolve the issue, crews will perform a more substantial repair to the pavement, which will require the closure of the left lane. Motorists can expect traffic delays in the area and are encouraged to seek alternate routes, if possible, and allow for extra time.
Eastbound Interstate 70 lanes are currently narrowed between Warrenton and the rest area at Wright City as part of the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project. All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change. With an increased number of highway work zones in Missouri, it is important that motorists pay attention every second while driving, especially through work zones.
The Improve I-70: Warrenton to Wentzville is the second project in MoDOT’s Statewide Improve I-70 Program and will add a third lane of travel in each direction to I-70 from Warrenton to Wentzville. The project includes the Improve I-70 funding and additional legislatively designated General Revenue funding. It also includes previously allocated funds in the state’s program for other I-70 and I-64 projects, for a total contract of $600 million.
Missouri’s FY2024 budget, approved through the state legislative process and signed into law by the governor, provides $2.8 billion in General Revenue to build a third lane of I-70 across the state. The program will plan, design, construct, reconstruct, rehabilitate, and add a third lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
