Accessibility improvements set to start in Linn next week

Work planned in Boone, Callaway, Osage, and Phelps counties

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A multi-county project upgrading pedestrian facilities is scheduled to get underway in Osage County next week. Planned improvements include sidewalks, curb ramps, and pavement approaches to bring them into compliance with the current standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). At their April 2025 meeting, the Missouri Department of Transportation awarded a $1,408,000 contract to Aplex Inc. to complete the project.

Starting Monday, May 5, crews will begin work in Linn on U.S. Route 50 from 11th Street to N. Lindwood Drive. As part of this project, upgrades are also planned at the following locations, but the exact scheduled of work will be dependent on weather:

  • Boone County
    • Route WW from Bricktown to S. Rolling Hills Road in Columbia.
    • Route TT from Park de Ville Drive to Missouri Route 740 in Columbia.
    • Missouri Route 163 from E. Broadway to Rogers Street in Columbia.
    • Route E at Primrose Drive in Columbia.
    • Missouri Route 763 at Route VV in Columbia.
    • Route B at Vandiver in Columbia.
    • Route V at Wall Street and W. Stone Street in Sturgeon.
  • Callaway County
    • Route J at Willow Drive in New Bloomfield.
  • Phelps County
    • Route T from W. 1st Steet to W. 5th Street in Newburg.

Work will require temporary closures of pedestrian facilities and intermittent single-lane closures with flaggers, as necessary. By contract, the project is scheduled for completion by Dec. 1, 2025. All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
