JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – Missouri Route 179, south of Jamestown, is set to close in mid-May to replace the deck (driving surface) of the Moniteau Creek Bridge. Construction crews, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, will close the bridge to all traffic beginning the morning of May 12 and remain closed through early July. Throughout the closure, a signed detour will be in place directing motorists to use Missouri Route 87 and Moniteau and Cole County Route N.
Built in 1967 and rehabilitated in 1997, the supporting structures of the bridge are in good condition. The driving surface, however, has deteriorated, is in poor condition, and needs to be replaced.
As part of their December meeting, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $1,098,248.50 contract to E & C Bridge, LLC for this project which includes replacing the Moniteau County Route U bridge deck over Howard Creek. The contractor has tentatively scheduled the Route U closure from mid-August through mid-October.
All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
