St. Joseph, Mo. – A project to widen U.S. Route 69 and rehabilitate Interstate 35 in Clinton County will begin on Route 69 on Wednesday, April 30. The Missouri Department of Transportation has contracted Michels Road & Stone for the project.
Route 69 (from Shoal Creek near the intersection of I-35 to Route 116)
On Wednesday, April 30, crews will begin by widening the lanes of Route 69 to 12 feet in each direction and add a 2-foot shoulder. Once the widening is complete, the roadway will be patched then resurfaced.
Traffic Impacts: During construction, the roadway will be narrowed to one lane with flaggers guiding motorists through the work zone. Motorists should expect delays. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place.
Work on Route 69 is scheduled to be completed by June 2025.

Traffic Impacts: During patching, crews will narrow a section of the interstate to one lane in a short-term work zone to complete the patching.
All work for this project must be completed on or before September 1, 2026.
