Resurfacing Work Scheduled to Begin in Lincoln County

HANNIBAL – Weather permitting, two resurfacing projects will soon begin in Lincoln County. As early as the week of May 5, contractor crews will start work on Route K, from U.S. Route 61 to the end of state maintenance. Once complete, operations will shift to Route V, from U.S. Route 61 to Route W.

During this time, traffic will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction at the location where crews are actively working. Flaggers and a pilot car will be utilized for traffic control to guide traffic through the work zone which will be active during daylight hours. All work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change.

The $3.6M contract, awarded last year to Mid-River Asphalt, Inc. of Troy, Missouri, includes three additional resurfacing projects scheduled to begin later this spring, with all work to be completed by November 1, 2025:

  • Lincoln County, Route Y - From Route W to Missouri Route 79
  • Lincoln/Pike County, Route W - From Missouri Route 79 in Clarksville in Pike County to Route B near New Hope in Lincoln County (2 disconnected sections)
  • Pike County, Route WW - From U.S. Route 61 at Edgewood to Route W

Scheduling information for all projects will be shared through signs, news releases and social media. The resurfacing projects are included as part of the Governor's Rural Road program. With the Governor’s signing of the Fiscal Year 2025 budget, an additional $100 million in General Revenue is available for Missouri’s low volume rural roads. Using asset management data, the Missouri Department of Transportation has identified 1,985 lane miles of low volume roads to receive treatments to improve road conditions. The roads are being bundled into 19 contracts across the state.  For more information on the Governor’s Rural Roads Program, visit Governor's Rural Roads Program | Missouri Department of Transportation (modot.org).
