REVISED JACKSON COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will be conducting pavement repair and resurfacing operations on eastbound and westbound U.S. Highway 40 from Ooida Dr. in Grain Valley to Sterling Ave. in Independence resulting in various lane closures and flagging operations beginning on April 21 (revised from April 17) – June 2025. This is not a complete closure, but motorist should expect delays.
Crews will begin with pavement repair operations on EB/WB U.S. Highway 40 from Ooida Dr. in Grain Valley to Sterling Ave. in Independence April 21-May 6 (approximately).
While pavement repair is taking place, crews will also be resurfacing the work area in sections beginning on April 28 (approximately) – June 2025. After crew’s complete work in one section they will move on to the next section. All work is weather permitting.
The following is the approximate order for the resurfacing work, April 28-June 2025:
- Grain Valley to Approx. MO-7, begins April 28 (approximately)
- MO-7 to Turkey Hollow Rd.
- Turkey Hollow Rd. to Lee’s Summit Rd.
- Lee’s Summit Rd. to Sterling
Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
