ST. LOUIS – Drivers in the Town and Country and Chesterfield area may need to allow a little extra time over the next few months as construction starts on improvements between Interstate 64 and Route 141.
Over the next week, drivers can expect the following, weather permitting. Work may be shifted due to inclement weather:
- Monday, April 14, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the ramp from the westbound outer road to southbound Route 141 will be closed.
- Tuesday, April 15, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the ramp from eastbound to southbound Route 141 will be closed.
- Wednesday, April 16, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., up to two lanes closed on northbound and southbound Route 141.
Once this work is complete, drivers can expect the following changes on northbound and southbound Route 141 around the clock:
- Shifted lanes on southbound Route 141 before the ramp to westbound I-64.
- Reduced space in the turn lanes from southbound Route 141 to eastbound I-64.
- Closure of one of the two turn lanes from northbound Route 141 to eastbound I-64.
- Narrowed lanes on both the ramp from eastbound I-64 and the ramp from the westbound outer road to southbound Route 141.
In addition, drivers can expect daytime off-peak lane closures in the areas north of Interstate 64 and nighttime ramp closures and lane closures in the area south of Interstate 64.
The upcoming project will widen the ramp from the westbound outer road to add an additional turn lane for southbound Route 141 to reduce the backups along the ramp. In addition, the ramp from eastbound I-64 will be widened to provide a dedicated right turn lane onto Route 141, and Route 141 will be widened between that ramp and the exit to the Woods Mill roundabout to give people a dedicated lane to get up to speed and merge onto southbound Route 141. Several other adjustments will be made to improve safety at the interchange and reduce congestion. When the work is complete, the section of Route 141 between St. Lukes Hospital Drive and I-64 will be resurfaced.
Construction is expected to continue through late 2025.
