Public input sought on Missouri Route 47 realignment and bridge construction

MoDOT to host public meeting, three-week comment period

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is hosting a public meeting and comment period for a project to realign and raise Missouri Route 47 over the Union Pacific Railroad near Cadet. Interested parties will have the opportunity to learn, ask questions, and provide input about the Washington County project.

By building a new bridge over the railroad and realigning Route 47, the road will have less intersecting contact points and increase traffic flow by allowing citizens to travel over the railroad. The improvement plans for the route will enhance safety, drivability, and traffic flow. Route 47 will remain open during a majority of the construction, which is expected to take place in 2025 with an estimated total engineering and construction cost of $8,608,000 (subject to change).

The in-person, open-house style public meeting will take place at Fyre Lake Winery (12902 State Highway 47, Cadet, MO, 63630). The project team will be on hand to answer questions, provide information, and receive input about the project. There will be no formal presentation, so attendees may come and go as they please during the meeting.

Online participation is also available at https://www.modot.org/projects/missouri-route-47-new-bridge-construction-over-union-pacific-railroad-washington-county. All displays from the meeting will be available online and website visitors may ask questions and make comments about the project via an online form during the three-week open comment period, April 1 – 22, 2025.

Written comments will also be accepted and should be postmarked on or before April 22, 2025, addressed to:
