JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – A project has been awarded and will be starting soon to replace the Missouri Route 5 bridge over Bear Creek in Glasgow. The project will replace the aging bridge to improve safety for all roadway users and increase accessibility for pedestrians.
Initial work to clear trees and brush around the project site is scheduled March 19 – 31. While impacts to traffic will be minimal in March, motorists should stay alert for equipment movements which may require brief closures of one or both lanes.
Roadway work with traffic impacts is expected to begin in late April and continue through September. The project will be phased so that one lane of the bridge will always remain open, with temporary traffic signals to guide motorists through the work zone. Motorists should remain vigilant and pay attention to all traffic control devices. An 11-foot width restriction will be in place.
