ST. LOUIS – Motorists who use Interstate 270 in west St. Louis County this week should allow extra time or choose alternate routes due to work around the Interstate 64/Interstate 270 interchange.
Weather permitting, crews will close up to three right lanes on southbound Interstate 270 starting Thursday, March 13 at 8 p.m. to move traffic exiting to Interstate 64 to newly constructed ramps. The ramps to I-64 in both directions will be closed as part of the traffic change. Traffic can detour to Manchester Road, cross over the interstate, enter northbound I-270 and take the appropriate ramp to eastbound or westbound I-64 during the closure. The lanes, and ramps, will reopen Friday, March 14, by 5 a.m.
In addition, crews will completely close Conway under Interstate 270 Friday, March 14 at 7 p.m. to remove a portion of the Interstate 270 bridge over the roadway. Conway will reopen Monday, March 17 by 5 a.m.
Drivers will still be able to get to Mercy Hospital east of I-270 using Ballas Road to Conway, and drivers will be able to get to portions of Conway west of I-270 from the I-64 north outer road. There is no additional impact to traffic on Interstate 270 during this demolition.
