ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The northbound Interstate 35 rest area south of Lathrop is scheduled to close Friday, Feb. 28. The Missouri Department of Transportation has contracted Herner Construction Co. to complete a remodeling project at the facility. The project is expected to be complete by Oct. 1, 2025.
The rest area will have improved access in line with the guidance of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the building will be remodeled both inside and out, including expansion to include an interior vestibule, family restroom, and vending area.
Traffic Impacts: The rest area will be closed at the entrance ramp throughout the project.
