Contract awarded to rehabilitate the Interstate 44 bridge over Little Piney Creek and BNSF Railroad

Construction in Phelps County expected to start March 5, 2025

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – At their February meeting, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $847,000 contract to N.B. West Contracting Company to rehabilitate the Interstate 44 bridge over the Little Piney Creek and BNSF Railroad near Jerome.

The bridge was built in 1966, and while the supporting structures are in good condition, the shoulders need to be replaced and the driving surface (bridge deck) and substructure needs repairs in order to extend the life of the bridge.

The contractor plans to begin work on March 5, 2025. Once construction begins, they will have 55 calendar days to complete the project. One lane of the bridge will remain open during construction.
